7- Days From Tanger To Tanger ROADS Moto
Day 1: Tangier – Fes
Approx. 340 km
Departure towards Fes, crossing the northern part of Morocco with its fertile hills at about 350 meters above sea level. Lunch in Chefchaouen, then continue to Fes, a true stronghold of Moroccan culture and identity. Dinner in the enchanting Medina. The medieval atmosphere of the city, with its craft workshops, unique sounds, rich scents, and vibrant colors, gives the feeling of a real journey back in time. Overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 2: Fes – Merzouga
Approx. 460 km
Departure towards the Kandar valleys (cedar forest) and the Tafilalet region (date palm valley), reaching the edge of the Sahara Desert. Lunch near Midelt. After lunch, continue the journey to Merzouga, a small town oasis surrounded by massive sand dunes rising up to 250 meters and stretching over 20 km. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
Day 3: Merzouga – Merzouga
Option 1:
Early wake-up to witness one of the most spectacular sunrises you will ever see, from the top of a dune near the camp. After sunrise, breakfast and camel ride back to Merzouga.
We then cross the Erg Chebbi, a vast sea of sand where Morocco’s highest dune rises over 250 meters. Along the way, we visit nomadic settlements to learn about their traditions and lifestyle.
Next stop is a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the Erg Chebbi basin, followed by a visit to the village of Khamlia, originally from Mali, where we enjoy a relaxing tea and a live Gnawa spiritual music performance.
Transfer to the hotel and free afternoon to enjoy the town or the dunes next to the hotel and admire the sunset. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.
Option 2:
After breakfast, we slowly explore the surroundings of the Ouzina Desert, visiting authentic Saharan nomads in the Ouzina area. We will share a welcome tea with them (a small tip of at least €5 or purchasing some of their handmade items is appreciated).
We then stop to take photos of the red, tajine-shaped mountains before continuing to the Barite mines, where we learn how the miners work, descending into shafts up to 50 meters deep to extract barite, a mineral exported to Europe for glass production.
At midday, we enjoy lunch at a Berber family’s home in Ouzina (welcome tea, salad, Berber pizza). You will also have the opportunity to get a traditional henna tattoo from a specialized local artist (a tip for the henna artist is customary). After lunch, time to relax or stroll around the village and its oasis.
In the afternoon, we head to the dunes of Erg Ouzina to admire the sunset in this wild and untouched desert, surrounded by complete silence. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Merzouga – Boumalne Dades
Approx. 340 km
Drive towards Tinghir and visit the spectacular Todra Gorges, famous for their dramatic rock formations. Lunch in a local restaurant in Tinghir. In the afternoon, explore the Dades Valley, known for its unique rock pinnacles and breathtaking landscapes. Arrival at the hotel in the late afternoon, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Boumalne Dades – Marrakech
Approx. 325 km
Departure towards Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), the highest road pass in Morocco. Stop at Ait Ben Haddou to visit the famous UNESCO-listed fortified Kasbah. Lunch in a restaurant. Continue to Marrakech, arriving in the late afternoon. Dinner at leisure. Optional visit to Jemaa el-Fna Square, especially lively and atmospheric from sunset until late at night. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 6: Marrakech – Casablanca
After breakfast, departure to Casablanca, the industrial and economic heart of Morocco. With a population of around 3 million, Casablanca is a modern and dynamic city.
In the city center, visit the Hassan II Mosque, one of the most impressive landmarks in Morocco, built in 1986. It is the largest mosque in North Africa, with the tallest minaret at 210 meters, and the only mosque in Morocco open to non-Muslim visitors.
Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel in Casablanca.
Day 7: Casablanca – Tangier
Departure towards Cap Spartel, where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Mediterranean Sea. Lunch overlooking the ocean. In the afternoon, return to Tangier along a scenic panoramic coastal road. If time permits, a short city visit before heading to the port.
